Indiana Kindergarten Reading Diagnostic Assessment
The Indiana Kindergarten Reading Diagnostic Assessment
is a series of informal classroom assessments designed to
provide Kindergarten teachers with information about the developing
skills of their students. Provided at no cost to Indiana schools
by the Indiana Department of Education, the Kindergarten Assessment
features:
- Assessment items aligned with Indiana’s
English/Language Arts standards for Kindergarten
- Diagnostic assessment to help teachers plan instruction that may be tailored to meet individual student needs
- Developmentally appropriate items that become
progressively more difficult with each administration
- Three flexible assessment administrations:
- Administration 1 is a screening tool administered
individually to assess students reading knowledge at the
beginning of the school year
- Administration 2 and Administration 3 are
primarily given to small groups of students to monitor student
progress throughout the year
- Individual student booklets and related
materials shipped directly to schools
- Teacher-scored assessments that provide
immediate results on student reading development
- Opportunity for students to learn test-taking
skills for ISTEP+ preparation
- Additional resource and intervention materials, including
classroom activities, reproducible assessments, and fluency
measures
